From the second we met Lou, we knew she 'got us' . We only met her twice but what she took from our chats was just incredible. Lou wrote the most funny, personal and touching ceremony. I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams a ceremony so good.
Our wedding was called Beards, beers, bands and Being Hitched and Lou wrote amongst other things- the 10 bearded commandments! All began with B and were factual about us but funny too. She even got into the part with her own beard !
Lou was more than just our celebrant , she became our friend too xx
Absolutely love you guys! Thank you so much.
The Chimney House, Kelham Island, Sheffield | September 2019
We had an unusual situation in that our veue didn’t have a wedding licence when we originally booked and so, I organised Louisa after finding her on instagram and being drawn in by all the colourful photographs and selfies (!) to do a ceremony for us and we were going to do the registry office thing beforehand. But in the interim months, our venue was granted its licence and so then, we were stuck with what to do; we had to use the registrars but I was really apprehensive about the ceremony feeling generic and unpersonal, so I kept with Lousia and worked with her and the venue to come up with a way to blend the two things.
After the official ceremony which was the shortest we could make it (!) – both too shy to stand up there with a lot to say, so we chose the minimal vows, everyone went into the room next door for drinks and nibbles, and then we all reconvened in the ceremony for the celebrant-led part, which I was nervous about because I didn't want guests to be confused by 'two ceremonies'. My partner isn’t a massive touchy-feely person and had really dragged his feet about filling in the questionnaire for Louisa, and so everything was really last minute – I was still editing the script sat in a café round the corner from the venue the day before the wedding in between dropping off the cake and drinks and favours, the Nintendo switch, picking my dress up etc! But Louisa absolutely nailed it! She put together a service about Marvin and I and our love for music, films, training (running), cocktails, and travel. She did it to music clips and was making a cocktail as she went along. It sounds completely random but it was so much fun. I think it brought everyone together and showed them how we’d met and come together and grown together. Everyone loved it and Louisa stayed with us for food and she was milling about with the guests all night. she was an absolute pleasure to work with we will never forget all the laughter she brought to the day.
We loved receiving a copy of our service to keep and people still talk about how mcuh fun that part of the day was.
As a person, Lousia is a pleasure to work with and is a true expert at her craft. She is colourful and vibrant and a would be a superb addition to anyone's special day. Thank you so much :) xxx
Salix Yurts, York | September 2019
Louisa crafted and performed the most personal and entertaining ceremony for our wedding. She was absolutely incredible from start to finish.
The process for coming up with ideas for the ceremony was really fun, and her hard work made it feel effortless for us, which was really appreciated given how many other things we were juggling.
On the day itself it went down an absolute storm with our friends and family. We had so many comments from them saying how much they enjoyed the ceremony and how very personal it was.
We would recommend Louisa to absolutely everybody, she was an integral part of the day and it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without her.
Louisa, we owe you a pint :)
East Keswick, Leeds | August 2019
Louisa performed the ceremony at our wedding in August 2019. The whole process, from meeting Louisa to the actual ceremony was great. What she created for us was so unique and special, and it suited us perfectly. Thank you.
Kingscroft hotel pontefract | August 2019
What can I say.... Louisa made out wedding so special. So unique, just perfect. Louisa made the whole journey effortless and took care of everything. We cant thank this wonderfully genuine lady enough. Massive hugs Louisa,,,, xxxx

Louisa is amazing. It was a pleasure to meet her, she had loads of great ideas, nailed the ceremony and made everyone laugh. Couldn’t have asked for more. X
Secret woodland | May 2019
I would most definitely recommend Louisa! She created an absolutely enchanting ceremony for us and captured our thoughts and ideas brilliantly... she put into words our vibe and all our guests have spoken to us about how much the ceremony touched them and made them feel it was so special to us and so much better than a ‘traditional’ impersonal ceremony can be. She is loads of fun and no idea is too crazy! She made everyone laugh and cry and created an amazing day!
Little hide glamping | June 2018
Well it's a late review and we couldn't feel worse as Louisa was beyond amazing, beyond our expectations despite meeting her numerous times before and just an incredible celebrant. The day didn't go to plan with our outside wedding on account of the rain however Lousia completely straightened out the ceremony and the plan b arrangements... So a celebrant who can overcome the weather is certainly worth it. Completely what we wanted. Louisa kept the communication between us in the run up to wedding and kept us calm throughout the event... All we can say is that is entirely what we wanted. We are so happy and grateful for Louisa. Outstanding and sorry again for the late review! (moved house, jobs and a new dog... Sorry louisa!)
Thank you Sean and Jessica! Better late than never hey? It was indeed very cosy in the yurts but it was great fun and you both looked so happy too! Lovely to hear from you and hope catch you in the future!
This Green Moon | October 2018
Thank you Louisa for helping us plan an amazing wedding ceremony and keeping all everyone guests engaged on a cold day in a forest! The planning process was really simple and you got a great balance between our two personalities. I''m not sure our guests knew what to expect, but the ceremony really set the tone for the day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend your services to anyone looking for a celebrant!
Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel | May 2018
Words are not enough to describe how wonderful Louisa was in helping us design and perform our wedding ceremony (19th May 2018-Royal wedding day) and how thankful we are for her expertise, guidance, genuine care and commitment.
We planned everything from Australia by FaceTime and despite the time zone differences Louisa somehow managed to make it work!
Louisa designed an amazing ceremony for us; she really took the time to get to know us and get a feel for our personalities, families and our relationship. She intuitively was able to create something so special, intimate and personalised; our guests made many comments on how genuine, touching and full of humour and pathos was the experience and how Louisa seemed to capture us so perfectly- as if a fond friend who knew us well (Quote: “your celebrant was amazing!”)
Louisa navigated so capably between the light hearted and the serious and spoke with such warmth- adeptly incorporating our young daughter into proceedings and putting her at ease. Louisa wasn’t afraid to put herself out there either and go with the moment - at one stage mimicking my partner’s northern accent; at another giving her best Columbo impersonation! (his favourite show).
Upon meeting Louisa in person on the actual day of our wedding I felt immediately compelled to throw my arms around her and give her a massive hug as her lovely face beamed back at me, full of joy.
I can’t recommend this talented lady enough. Her calm demeanour, kindness, experience and capability will settle even the most nervous and I have no doubt she will make anyone else’s day as unforgettable as she did ours.
A heartfelt thank you!
Haleys Hotel Headingley | May 2018
When we were looking for a celebrant for our marriage little did we know we were going to find a real “STAR” in Louisa.
I have never known someone who just “got us” straight away. She seemed to understand the tone we wanted to take with our handfasting ceremony from the start. She was able to suggest things that fitted in with our view of life which in turn enhanced our ceremony so much. It was pure magic!
Louisa was able to mix the solemn moments with a little laugher and involved the guests too. Although the ceremony was 50 minutes long, because of all the different parts of the service, everyone said it felt like it was like 20 minutes and how much they enjoyed the ceremony.
Many of our guests thought that Louisa was an old friend of ours and couldn’t believe we had only known her a couple of months as she understood us so well.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Louisa Starr to anyone for any celebration or occassion. Her friendly outgoing nature made the whole process painless for us and should we require the services of a celebrant again we will be using this little “Starr”.
Prairie Sports Village, Burnley, Lancashire | May 2018
Louisa carried out the Naming Ceremony for our son on 13th May 18. We had the most wonderful day celebrating.Thank you for creating and delivering such a meaningful ceremony for our family Louisa, we couldn't have asked for more.
Many of our friends and relatives commented on how unique and special it was. We know we made the right decision the first time we face timed you! Thanks again for your help in making some very special memories for us all.
We really hope to see you again in the not so distant future for another exciting occasion. All our love, Daniela, Ashley and Isaac xxx
Wainsgate Chapel | March 2018
Louisa was amazing! Our wedding ceremony was very personal to us, romantic and entertaining. She got to know us really well before the big day, which meant she wrote a wonderful ceremony unique to us. Our guests all commented too on how great she was. We would highly recommend her to anyone. Thank you again Louisa for making the day so special! xx
The singing was so much fun in your ceremony and I loved that we incorporated the ice connections into the service too. Lovely people and lovely laughter!!
Fishlake Mill | March 2018
How do you write a review for the person who turned your dreams into reality and guided you through one of the most meaningful times of your life? From the moment we met Louisa on Skype (from the other side of the world) and she told us she would do anything we wanted apart from sacrifice live animals, we knew she was the one to perform our ceremony. She guided us and provided us with just the right amount of information and options to allow us to begin to craft a unique and personal service. She informed us about things that we didn't know we wanted but that our ceremony would not have been complete without (such as hand binding and a candle of remembrance).
Louisa makes it seem effortless, and works tirelessly, collecting information and details and combining the understanding she extracts from this with any number of specific requests. For us she worked with ideas we provided and combined them with our requests to include a huge number of specific songs, and turned this into an amazing narrative which made both my partner and me cry with joy when we first read it through. Our ceremony was funny and engaging but always personal, beautiful and true. We loved it and so did our guests, or the audience as we referred to them. We would recommend Louisa in a heartbeat to anyone wanting a non-conventional ceremony, but also one that is unique and personal and full of countless precious details, the memory of which will last a lifetime.
I loved every minute of this ceremony! Although we only had communicated via FaceTime due to Andrew and Matthew living in Australia, we got to know each other really well and so everything on the day went perfectly! Such a laugh as well as a lot of emotions! I l'd never had a graph drawn at a wedding before!
Wold Top Brewery | April 2017
Louisa was fab from the moment we first met her; friendly, easy-going and open to pretty much any suggestion we had! We never felt like any request was too small; any whim or idea too weird. And Louisa did a brilliant job on the day, pulling everything together to perfection and leading the singing beautifully too!
We received so many comments about how lovely and personal the service was. A couple of choice ones are here...
"Hands down, best ceremony ever!"
"Yours was the most fun, meaningful and obviously different wedding I have ever attended"
Our ceremony was exactly how we wanted it to be: reflective of us, our lives together and our hopes for our marriage. That is thanks to Louisa – and we would recommend her, without hesitation, to anyone looking for a celebrant; not just for a wedding, but for any ceremony.
Aldby Park | September 2017
Louisa is a great celebrant! From the start she was very easy to get along with and took the time to get to know us, to make our ceremony personal. She's totally committed to providing the ceremony that you want to have. All of our guests said how lovely it was - highly recommended!
Church Hall in York | October 2017
From the minute I enquired with Louisa about my daughter's naming ceremony to the minute she left the venue, it has been an absolute joy to work with Starr Gazing Ceremonies. I couldn't have asked for a more personal and thoughtful ceremony, beautiful memories have been made. Thank you so much!
Woodhall Hotel, Linton, Wetherby, West Yorkshire | August 2017
It was a FANTASTIC day for us!! Louisa made it so much fun for everyone, getting people involved, counting 1 potato 2 potato, busting out the tambourine and some dance moves in our group song and just made our whole wedding expereince so relaxed and enjoyable. Would DEFINITELY recomened her to anyone!! Thanks Louisa xx
A field in Yorkshire!! | September 2017
I'll keep this short because there really is not much more to say than I'm 100% positive Louisa is by far the best Celebrant on Earth! Our festival themed ceremony was perfect! Her communication prior was spot on and from the very 1st meeting we knew she was right up our street.
Her humour and whit and all the little details she included suited us down to a T as well and she basically helped make the best day of our lives the best it possibly could be!
Every special person in our lives singing Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' full voice inside the Marquee mid ceremony will be a memory I'll never forget.
Keep doing what you're doing Louisa because you're very bloody good at it :)
Can't recommend enough!
There was such a buzz at Luke and Emily's wedding. It was electric! Full of love from everybody there and the laughs we had were truly memorable as was the Three Little Birds singalong!!
Loved being part of it!
Yorkshire | July 2017
Louisa was a fantastic celebrant. She wrote a witty but moving script and performed the ceremony brilliantly! Our guests told us that they really enjoyed the ceremony as it had been more engaging and informal than any wedding celebration they had attended before!
Castle Hill Farm | June 2017
We couldn't have hoped for a better ceremony. It was brilliant and the perfect start to a great day. We had so many compliments on the ceremony, I think Louisa captured perfectly what we wanted and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Xxx
Such a laugh with the giving out of cocktails as part of the ceremony and the sing-a-long of Lord of the Dance!
Swinton Hall, Masham | July 2017
Thanks Louisa again for making our day perfect. Louisa has been very helpful since the first day we got in touch. Although we were in different time zones, there was no problem for our communication. We chatted a lot through emails as we could not meet in person until the big day. She wanted to know our stories, thoughts and feelings for each other in order to tailor made us our ceremony. There was nothing I could complain. Louisa also prepared the blessing in Cantonese which surprised us a lot! She must have spent a long time practising it. Louisa was so generous to prepare us the love locks, this was all her idea! She was such a warm and lovely person who truly helped you to sort things out and made things perfect instead of just finishing her job. Louisa has done more than she needed to and more than what we asked for. You won't be disappointed if you have Louisa in your any kind of ceremony!
Although we didn't meet until the day due to Phoenix and James living in Hong Kong, we managed to communicate brilliantly via the internet and had a beautiful ceremony that was very personal. As there were only 4 of us in the room, it was indeed very intimate but very special.
Wold Top Brewery, Driffield | August 2017
Louisa did the most amazing ceremony for us at wold top brewery. It was an outdoor ceremony on a very windy day but this did not phase her one bit. Louisa made the whole ceremony individual to us and led a fantastic sing a long with superb backing guitar by Holly. All our guests remarked what an incredibly meaningful ceremony it was and how engaging Louisa was. Thank you so much for helping us make long lasting memories of our wonderful day xxx
We didn't let the wind stop us at all!! Holly (the guitarist) and I loved rehearsing for the sing-a-long but nothing was better than when we had everybody singing it!
The Ulvers, Cuckney | June 2017
Louisa is simply amazing! If you want a truly fabulous ceremony, totally unique to you, Louisa is the perfect choice.
We had a great time meeting up with Louisa whilst we were planning the ceremony with her; she is really friendly and a great listener so made sure we had the ceremony we were dreaming of. She had lots of ideas for us to consider and gathered plenty of background information from each of us so she had really funny stories to share with our friends and family. Everyone at the wedding loved Louisa and just as we wanted, our guests were laughing their heads off. Louisa balanced the light-hearted feel with plenty of romance; it was perfect.
Thank you Louisa xx
I loved performing your ceremony due to the comedy elements that we put together and included in it! The heat of the sun added to the mood too.
Woodland in Yorkshire | June 2017
Louisa. From our very first meeting right up to the point you delivered a knock out ceremony for us in our woodland paradise, you were incredible. Such a good sense of humour and dedication to what you do, you brought to life our story and added so many hilarious, heartfelt and pure emotional elements to what has been described by many of our guests as the best ceremony they've ever been to. It was touch and go as to whether the weather would allow us to do our blessing in the wood, but you worked with us right up to the end to ensure we were looked after and taken great care of. We love you Louisa - you're a fine female indeed!! xxx thank you so so much xx" Lucy and Matthew
It was such good fun despite the grey clouds! The 11 year theme kept us all in fits of giggles indeed. I had great fun working with you both and hope to meet up again soon!

Yoda, Bearded Lady, Whoopi Goldberg, Musicals, games of Quidditch, Dancing to Agadoo, Film Scenes, Viking re-enactments, Singing of Pokemon Theme, Gandalf, ………yes, these are just some of the fun elements I have performed and created in ceremonies before! I am a huge believer in creating something totally different so if you are just wanting a very traditional style of wedding ceremony, then I may not be the right celebrant for you! I do love including the traditional elements of marriage in ceremonies indeed however, I get itchy fingers if I can’t do something off the scales …or off the rails more like it! For me, laughter, involvement of guests, having fun yet celebrating the ethos and meaning of marriage. I have been married since 2007 so know a bit about it now!
