Hi, I'm Liz
Hi my name’s Liz. I’m the person behind Magical Ceremonies. I’m an independent celebrant; I work on my own and do everything from bookings, to writing, creating keepsakes, listening to and supporting you and leading the ceremony. I’ve been a celebrant for 6 years now. Though I’d not predicted I’d become a celebrant, it’s funny how my life’s experiences all seem to fall into place in the work I do and bring depth and experience in every service I provide.
What's my ceremony style?
Bringing a sense of loving frequency and a joy in magical moments. Theatrical, spiritual, inspired by historical ritual or the beauty of our natural world – all ceremonies are full of open hearted connection! All of this helps you to have the most authentic and unique service. I am deeply committed to serving others with compassion and joy.

Historical and nature themed weddings are so unique and special and I love to get creative with you to craft a unique ritual that serves your soul! Hand Fastings and historic themes are my speciality. For a funeral, working with open, heartfelt compassion and a connection to spirit allows me to support you during times of loss, to say farewell to someone close to you in a deep and meaningful way that is right just for you and them.
What do I offer?
Weddings
If you want a warm and light-hearted ceremony that involves ancient rituals and a unique splash of vibrancy, then you need a Magical Ceremony! Inside a luxury hotel or wedding barn, outdoors in nature – such as on top of the Derbyshire Peaks or in a secluded woodland. I have created Viking / Medieval/ Pagan ceremonies as well as more traditional weddings. My couples come from all walks of life , and have one thing in common – they want something unique and special that no one else has had!
I always meet with a couple at least once, sometimes several times if this is necessary. I provide as many draft versions of a ceremony you need until you are happy with the final script. I provide all and any ritual props that you would like. E.g. handfasting ribbons or advise on how to make them for yourselves, bespoke hand painted oathing stones, quaich or chalice, etc. My couples also receive a handprinted keepsake copy of the wedding ceremony in a customised gift box.

Renewal of Vows
A renewal of your wedding vows is just as special as when you did it the first time – in fact, perhaps it is even more special because things have changed, deepened between you, or you wish to highlight the renewal of your love for each other with important people around you!
Special mementos and reflections of your previous ceremony may be included in your new and vibrant exchange of vows – or perhaps you want to wipe the slate clean and start afresh! We can create anything that suits you to a T

Funerals
As an independent celebrant I often get asked for directly by families to help them create a funeral for a person close to them who has died or who may be approaching their end of life. I work with all the local funeral directors, independent ones, large small or part of larger groups. I can recommend excellent care for people who may not know who to choose. I am happy to support anyone who may need a kind and calm support.
I visit families in their home or in a mutually agreed location if necessary, spending usually 1 to 2 hours with them. I can create the whole service or ceremony of farewell including the eulogy and give support and guidance to those who prefer to write or say their own tributes. I can advise on music and poetry, spiritual readings. Memory keepsakes may be requested such as candles, memory tags/letters, seed favours or sweets.

Gentle Confidence
I couldn’t recommend Liz highly enough she has been a light and beacon of strength when everything else didn’t really make sense. I have been unfortunate enough to have said goodbye to both my mum and my brother within 14 months of each other. Liz has a real sense of safeness and gentle confidence that made me feel secure and not pressured by the drum beat of organising a funeral and the chaos of grief. She is very invested, she listens and pays her own respect in her own way to our loved ones, you wouldn’t necessarily know unless you noticed and asked, this for me shows a true humility to our fragile lives, a gentle nod of respect to both our loved ones and everyone around.
